About Here/Say Media

We are a team of San Franciscans who believe in the power of our city. We think that San Francisco, despite all of its booms, busts, contradictions and confusions is a city that can and should be a shining example of urban inclusion. That’s why we’re getting to the core of the city’s most important stories—unearthing the meaning behind the headlines.

Our mission is to help our friends and neighbors understand San Francisco through deeply-reported articles, analysis, video and audio. We’re not here to break the news—we’re here to offer clarity, focus and context. We want to help you learn why things are happening, how they came to be and who made them that way. Through our reporting we hope to empower you with the information you need to hold yourself, your neighbors and your city accountable to change.

We are a project of Civic Action Labs, a 501c4 organization with a mission to increase civic engagement and education in San Francisco. Civic Action Labs has received startup financing from Crankstart. Here/Say Media accepts donations from individuals and organizations. Our team retains full creative freedom and journalistic independence from our donors and board. Our team of journalists is solely responsible for the editorial direction of our publication, and we adhere to the ethics policy of the Society of Professional Journalists.

We are committed to accuracy in our reporting, but recognize that from time to time we make mistakes. Corrections can be emailed to us at corrections@heresaymedia.org.
